Thailand is not only famous for its beautiful beaches, but it also offers delicious cuisine which is a good reason to visit the country. Your taste buds are going to be thanking you for relishing on the flavors of the land of smiles.

Pad Thai

Always go for the national dish first. Pad thai is the best dish for tourists who have just started their exploration of Thai cuisine. The dish consists of fried noodles which are normally served with chicken or shrimp. If you are a vegetarian, rest assured as they offer that option as well and trust me, it is quite popular. You would not have to look much for this dish as it is available in every corner and is cheap and tasty.

Som Tam

If you love papaya salad, you should definitely try this dish! Som Tam is originated from Isaan in Northeastern Thailand. It forms part of the most popular dishes in Thailand. Even though Som Tam comes in a great variety of styles, the classic one consists of shredded green papaya, tomatoes, carrots, peanuts, dried shrimp, runner beans, palm sugar, tamarind pulp, fish sauce, lime juice, garlic and a lot of chilies.

Laab (Spicy Salad)

Laab is again a Northeastern- style salad made from meat or mushroom and a lot of mints. You can order a chicken, pork or a mushroom Laab. However, if you cannot spicy food, better abstain yourself from trying this dish.

Khao Pad

Khao pad is the favorite Thai go-to food. It is simply translated as “fried rice” which is a combination of rice, some egg, and onions. This dish is normally accompanied with some slices of cucumber to garnish and plenty of condiments which are amended according to the customer’s tastes.

Kai Med Ma Muang

This dish is much loved by locals as well as travelers. It is a sweet and flavourful Thai dish which is made of stir-fried chicken with cashew nuts, soy sauce, honey, onions, chilies, pepper, mushrooms, basically it can contain any vegetables that the chef has in hands. It is very tasty though.

Kai Jeow (Thai omelet)

Kai Jeow is the perfect boost of protein which you need on the go or you can choose it as an accompanying dish. It is usually served with rice and sweet chili sauce. If you want some vegetables along with your omelet ask for a “kai jeow pak”. If you are not used to Thai food yet, this dish is a perfect start for you, especially for breakfast.
