7)Khasab

Khasab is the capital of the enclave. In fact, it is merely a fishing village, and its main historical attraction is the Kasab Fortress, located in the harbor.

The fort dates back to the 17th century and was used as a military base. Later, it became the residence of the rulers of Khasab.

The two large cannons at the fort’s entrance will surely attract children’s interest. The narrow entrance leads to a large courtyard, where the children immediately look for the stairs leading to the ramparts with their towers. With dedication, they let their imaginations take over as the guardians of the fortress.

8) Jebel al-Khalim

Don’t miss the inspiring drive on Mount Jebel al-Harim, the highest peak in Musandam at 2,087 meters above sea level, known as the “Women’s Mountain”. The road is never flat, so you must take an off-road vehicle. Along the way, you will pass stunning viewpoints where you can admire the fjord and peaceful oases in a desolate landscape. Passing through small mountain villages, you will soon reach the Sey Plateau at the top. Here you can see fossils dating back millions of years.

This is the perfect place to pitch your tent and spend the night. At the top, a kind of Arabic Grand Canyon awaits you, a huge canyon where all you can hear is the sound of birds and your own breath. It is the most beautiful road in Oman, and the descent is as spectacular as the ascent.
