Where Is Penang Located in Malaysia? 

Penang is the third largest city in Malaysia. All the main attractions are located on the island of Penang. The old town has a colonial atmosphere and is fun to stroll around for a few hours. Penang also has a lot of beautiful street art. 

Kelok Si Temple 

This is the largest Buddhist temple in Asia and lives up to its name by being huge. Built on top of a mountain, it is composed of several parts. You can move from one part to another on what looks like a small train. At the top is a beautiful view of Penang and a huge Buddha statue. 

Little India 

Visiting Little India is truly like being in a Bollywood movie. The Indian music and the delicious smell of Indian food are a must. If you like Indian food, this is the place for you. You can buy delicious freshly baked samosas at the market and enjoy delicious curries and biryanis at one of the many restaurants in the area. 

Food Courts in Penang 

There are many places to eat and drink in Penang. If you don’t know what you’re looking for, visit the food courts! You can really find everything you need. There are dozens of food stalls where you can order food. There are plastic chairs and tables around the stalls where you can eat. They are certainly not fancy, but the food is excellent.

A visit to this old house is definitely worthwhile. It is now converted into a hotel, but during the day, you can take a guided tour that tells the mansion’s history. It is also a great base from which to explore George Town. 

Penang National Park 

In the park, you can hike, visit the turtle enclosure, and Monkey Beach, where you will not be alone with the many monkeys. The monkeys are very fast and can’t wait to get their hands on something tasty. There are also only 19 Meromic lakes here, with several hiking opportunities. These lakes are a combination of fresh and salt water. 

China Town

When you visit Penang, one thing you will immediately notice is a large number of Chinese people. Because of the large Chinese population in Penang, Chinese food is delicious. Be sure to try the dim sum and hotpot. Dim sum is served only in the morning and is a Chinese breakfast consisting of various steamed pastries, mostly made of rice noodles. Hotpot is a Chinese fondue of noodles, vegetables, meat, and fish cooked in a hot broth.

Penang Hill 

If you want to see Penang’s beautiful scenery, you should come here. A small train will take you up the mountain, and you will be at the top with beautiful views in no time. Here you will find an owl museum and a small Hindu temple to explore. 

Chew Jetty Fishing Quarter 

This neighborhood is located in Georgetown Harbor. The neighborhood is not large and is built entirely on stilts. With the increased tourism, many residents have opened small home stores. Shopping for souvenirs? Then you’ve come to the right place!
