As soon as you arrive in Bali, Sanur is the ideal place to start. In Sanur, you will find many excellent restaurants where you can order everything from traditional dishes to trendy rice bowls, and lovely hotels for your stay.

If you are going to Bali, you should definitely plan to spend a few days in this coastal town, especially if you also want to visit the Nusa Islands (Penida, Ceningan, Lembongan).

Go to the Beach in Sanur Bali

Sanur has a long sandy beach and relatively calm waters. The sea is wonderfully calm a few dozen meters away, and this relaxing beach is also the main reason to visit this part of Bali. Here you don’t have to watch out for rough waves like in Canggu or Kuta. As you go further into the ocean past the reef, you can see big waves breaking, but where you can swim, it is calm, and there are no strong currents. On Sanur Beach, you can float or swim in the pools without being swept away.

Another nice thing about Sanur beach is that it is yellow and soft, not black, and there are no hard stones. So, you can lay out your towel on the sand to get a spot, and there are plenty of trees if you need shade. Want something more luxurious and relaxing? There are also many tents where you can rent sunbeds with umbrellas, and some have nice pools with sea views.

Shopping in Sanur

There are plenty of shopping options in Sanur. While there are not as many stores as you might go crazy for, there are some nice stores, and you can go to the markets in Sanur. Most of these markets are located near the road leading to the ocean. Several stalls have summer clothes, rattan Bali bags, beautiful towels, toys, and souvenirs. On the larger streets, there are boutiques and concept stores selling more expensive clothing and well-known brands.

Spotting Houses, Coconut Art, Boats, Kites, Etc.

The cobblestone streets along Sanur Beach are like mini boulevards, making for a pleasant stroll. You can pass by cozy restaurants, luxurious hotel pools, and peddlers trying to sell you tours and massages. But the best part of the promenade is that you can also see some of the most beautiful and colorful boats on the beach, coconuts hanging from trees crafted like street art, and several seaside houses built along the shore of Sanur on what looks like a pier. These little houses are a great place to relax in the shade and take pictures, and these little houses are a feature of Sanur Beach.

Rent a Bicycle and Go Exploring!

Many visitors to Sanur do one thing: rent a bicycle. In addition to scooters, bikes are widely available for rent, allowing you to see the city of Sanur more quickly. The coastal route is a particularly beautiful cycling route, but be sure to venture a little further off the main road, Jl. Blue, and into the smaller streets. In this way, you will discover a completely different side of the coastal town.

From Sanur (Bali) to Penida Island or Lembongan (Nusa Archipelago)

Sanur in Bali is the ideal place to reach the Nusa Islands such as Penida, Lembongan, and Cheningan. These islands are highly recommended for many reasons.
